Parents want to have a direct voice in matters concerning our school and students, such as school-based planning and shared decision making, should become a part of the School Leadership Team, or SLT. How do you become a member of the SLT, you ask? There are 5 ways to get on the SLT:
- 1st - By Being the Principal or Admin Designee (not for parents)
- 2nd - By Being a UFT Elected Member (not for parents)
- 3rd - By Being a DC-37 Elected Member (not for parents)
- 4th - By Being the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) President*
- 5th - By Being an Elected Parent Member*
The School Leadership Team consists of 10 or more members and includes of the above mentioned membership spots. The PTA President is a mandatory member of the SLT, along with the Principal/Admin Designee and UFT Chapter Leader. Any parent who wishes to become a member of the SLT, must either be elected PTA President by the PTA parent members, or be elected by the PTA parent members to specifically serve on the SLT. If you are interested in being a part of the Pelham Gardens Middle School SLT, please make sure you attend our PTA meetings and express your interest to the PTA Executive Board and the parent members.
